Make your home climate friendly, healthier, and more comfortable

Why Electrify

Why Electrify?

When you electrify, you replace natural gas equipment and appliances with efficient electrically powered alternatives. There has never been a better time for Minnesota residents to go electric. Our electric grid is getting cleaner with more renewable energy being put to work while coal plants are being retired. At the same time, electrically powered technology is quickly advancing. That makes electrification an effective way to improve your home’s carbon footprint and make it healthier and more comfortable.

Benefits of Electrification

If you want to electrify your home but aren’t sure where to start, a home energy audit will help you prepare your home for other weatherization and electrification projects in the future. Choose the audit that’s offered by your utility with the help of our guide to home audits.

Upgrading any large piece of equipment or appliance can be expensive, but many financial incentives exist to help cover part of the cost of different upgrades. Utility rebates, city cost-sharing programs, state incentives, and federal rebates and tax credits can all be used to make these projects more affordable. Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) also offers several loans and grants for Minnesota residents. For a full overview of available financing options, please visit our incentives page.

Find Incentives

We have more answers. If you’re a resident of Hennepin County or Rochester, you can speak to an electrification advisor to ask more detailed questions about your unique situation. They’ll provide free, one-on-one support and guidance to help you choose your projects, contractors, and even incentives. Schedule your conversation to get started.
